Police say that community tips led them to identify Patrick Craig Locke, 30, of Washington, DC, who was arrested at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 18 at the Metro Center Station following an investigation into a rape earlier this month.

Locke’s arrest came hours after the Fairfax County Police Department issued an alert and provided fresh surveillance photos of their suspect to the public, which came through.

“Detectives received several tips and worked swiftly to corroborate the information by reviewing body camera footage from Montgomery County,” a spokesperson for the department said. “Locke was previously arrested in their jurisdiction.”

Once identified, detectives obtained warrants for:

  • Rape;
  • Burglary with the intent to commit rape;
  • Abduction with the intent to defile;
  • Brandishing.

It is alleged that Locke physically and sexually assaulted his victim on Saturday, Oct. 1 at a hotel in the 8600 block of Westwood Center Drive in Vienna.

Investigators say that a man who knew Locke's victim learned of the assault and chased him away, though not before Locke pointed a handgun at his pursuer to make his escape.

Locke’s victim was taken to an area hospital to be treated for injuries sustained in the assault.

Police made note that investigators have not recovered the weapon used in the crime. Locke taken into custody by the Metro Transit Police Department. He was transported to the Central Detention Facility in Washington, DC pending his extradition to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
